“What you do today can improve all your tomorrows.” – Ralph Marston

One of the most rewarding parts of being The Practical Prosperity Coach ™ and helping my clients to reach their Big, Juicy Dreams is that I get to witness their dreams manifesting in some truly amazing ways.

Along the way, I get to hold their hand and dry their tears (figuratively and sometimes literally), and remind them to just be patient, focus on doing their BEST and continue to  believe, even when there is no outer evidence that anything is happening on their dream.

I get to do that for myself too, of course.  Often, my own dreams manifest by amazing means and always in the perfect timing of the Universe/God — which is not always the timetable I would prefer.  Just like my clients, NOW is what I prefer.  But immediate gratification is not always in our best interest.

What IS the perfect time for our dreams to manifest is just as soon as we have learned the spiritual lessons and gone through the essential inner growth to make us truly ready to receive them. But the blessing is that those valuable lessons have strengthened my ability to focus solely on my OWN integrity and actions and helped me “Let go and let God” handle the rest. When I stop questioning “When?” and “How?” my Big Dreams will manifest, they often manifest with amazing ease when I least suspect it.

Where I find myself today represents a long-term, very intricate weaving together of seemingly “unconnected” events and people in my life.  In connecting them, the Universe/God has answered one of my biggest long-term dreams with ease and grace.

The saga began when I joined a wonderful network marketing company back in 1994. I fell in love with the business, especially the freedom it gave me to be my own boss and the personal development it introduced me to.  This is where I first learned about the Law of Attraction from Master Manifesters like Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield and Deepak Chopra who taught us how to make quantum leaps in manifesting Big Dreams.

What I didn’t know then is that through my network marketing business, I was also being connected to people who would have a direct impact on my career 20 years later.

First, I met “America’s Dream Coach,” Marcia Wieder, who came to speak at one of our conventions.  I ended up chatting with her on the plane home and she invited me to her first Maui workshop.  But first, I had to manifest $3,000.  I put my belief on the line by declaring to her, “I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I WILL be there.”  The money showed up in my mailbox the next day. Thus began my quest to master The Law of Attraction and share it with others.

Also through network marketing, I met my “upline” sponsor, Leslie Zann.  We bonded personally and she became my mentor and a major force in my personal development journey.  But after I left network marketing to pursue coaching, Leslie and I connected only sporadically because we were both busy with our careers.

After coaching 400 + clients over the past 10 years, I still love it.  But my level of financial success, while solid, has not reflected the true value I know my coaching provides to others. Over the years, I have randomly connected to a few network marketers as clients, and they have had great success in reaching their business goals.  They referred a few others to me, but nothing big came of it. Still, I never stopped believing that I would eventually find a path into this natural coaching niche for me, and when I did, I would rock it.

Leslie and I have reconnected recently, and I have been blessed to help her craft her own successful career as a coach, trainer and speaker for the network marketing industry in which she is an expert. She deserves it and I couldn’t be happier for her.

But much to both our surprise, Leslie has recently become a key player in my own career success as well.  As a follow-on benefit to one of her workshops, she offered six wonderful network marketers a one-hour session of Personal Success Coaching with me.  Most of them signed on as regular clients after that and started an avalanche of referrals that has brought me thirteen new clients in the past three months. While I am helping them take quantum leaps forward in their network marketing business, they are giving my coaching practice a quantum leap forward in return!

By patiently trusting the Universe/God to show me the HOW, and simply focusing on giving my BEST, I am now reaping the BEST in return.

P.S. Today is Leslie Zann’s birthday!  Happy Birthday, my friend.

I highly recommend checking out Leslie’s free blog and international speaking calendar, especially if you have an interest in creating “Outrageous Achievement” in the direct sales/network marketing industry: http://www.lesliezann.com

“It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life; it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power!” – Robert T. Kiyosaki

I recently coached a Practical Prosperity Coaching ™ client who was in the process of manifesting her goal more quickly and easily than she had imagined. At the beginning of January, she set a specific goal of attracting four new business partners to her network marketing Team by the end of March.  By the end of January, she had already signed up THREE of them!

What do you imagine was her reaction to this rapid success?   Elation….Satisfaction…  Gratitude?

Nope. She shared candidly that with each new business partner she signed up, a “little voice in my head” jabbered at her: “THAT one may have been easy but it’s going to get a LOT tougher from here. What about the next one?  You don’t have any serious new prospects right now.  Where are you going to find them?!”  Etc. Etc. Etc.

Why do we listen to The Voice?

What the Little Voice in her head said made sense to her. She was worried about finding the next prospective partner. She didn’t fully trust that three rapid successes weren’t just flukes.  Why is that? Because she is 100% normal!

Whenever we pursue a Big, Juicy Goal, we don’t know for sure that we can get what we want, but we believe it’s at least POSSIBLE.  And we are willing to follow the three simple steps of putting the Law of Attraction into action to help us get what we want: ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE.

My client had followed these steps flawlessly by doing her personalized Daily Success Script twice a day to help her harness the power of the Law of Attraction. And yet, her Little Voice was telling her it still wasn’t enough.

That inner voice is what my Dream Coach ™ teacher and mentor Marcia Wieder calls the Voice of the Doubter and my True Purpose Coach ™ teacher and mentor Tim Kelley calls The Protector part of your psyche.

Why does it act like that?

Whatever you call it, this isn’t just a “bad part” of your Ego that is trying to torment you or derail your success, although it can certainly do both.  That is not its aim.  It actually came into existence when you were a child to warn you of impending failure, disappointment and doom. When you were a child, it witnessed you fearlessly striving and sometimes failing — perhaps with negative consequences like a parent’s punishment, teacher’s scolding or peer’s ridicule.  It decided in that moment that its job was to make sure nothing like that ever happened to you again.

Your protective Little Voice wants only the best for you. But with its child’s view of the world, it has limited knowledge of how things actually work now in your adult world.  It doesn’t know that you are no longer in “danger” of a scolding or being sent to bed without your supper if you try and fail and at something.

When I told my client about the protective role of her Little Voice, she understood immediately.  She had thought she needed to squelch it so it wouldn’t sabotage her success.  But you can’t annihilate it – it’s a permanent part of your psyche. Like a child, the more you ignore it, the louder it will yell to get your attention.

Try a new approach

So, I suggested she take a different tack and turn her Little Voice it into an ally instead of an enemy, using a method I learned from Tim Kelley in my True Purpose Coach ™ training: The next time it popped up, she warmly acknowledged it, thanked it for protecting her and promised that she would take its warnings and suggestions under advisement as she pursued her goals.

Then, she invited the Little Voice to give itself a “job upgrade” by turning its special powers of discernment toward helping her attract and recognize the RIGHT prospects who would be a good fit for her Team. She even thought to ask if it wanted a new name and it asked to be called her “Seeker of Wisdom and Discernment.

She and her “inner helper” are now working together to create even more success for her business, with even greater ease and flow.

NOTE: A Cup of Caroll will be taking the weekend off for some President’s Day Weekend fun and will return on February 23.

“When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present…we experience heaven on earth.” – Sarah Ban Breathnach

I just completed a wonderful four-part webinar titled “How to Make 2014 Your Best Year Ever, which was designed and delivered by my friend and mentor, Jean Steel.

Jean is a delightfully humorous and effective professional speaker and writer who created her own Master’s Degree in Wellness.  She defines Wellness as “Mind-Body Health.”  True wellness is much more than simply having a fit and healthy body.  It’s about looking at your life as a whole and striving for balance, happiness and health in ALL areas – physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental and social.

Balance Your Life Wheel

Answering the questions Jean posed in her webinar made it very clear in which of the 10 segments of my own “Wellness Wheel” I am living up to my fullest, happiest potential: Career, Physical Activity, Friends and Family, Significant Other/Romance, Spiritual/Personal Growth and my Physical Environment.

On the other hand, her candid, simple self-assessment questions highlighted exactly where my “Wellness Wheel” is currently out of balance, making for a somewhat “bumpy ride” in my life at the moment: Diet/Nutrition, Play and Recreation, Finances and Health/Self Care.

The rest of the course Jean devotes to giving practical tips for how to make the changes necessary to balance your “Wellness Wheel” to make this your best year yet.  Many of the ideas and techniques, while familiar to me from my coaching training, were offered in fresh ways with memorable examples.

One REALLY landed with me and I wanted to share it with you today. You know I am a big proponent of the daily practice of expressing gratitude aloud and on paper. Not only does being actively, vocally appreciative of the people you love and all of your life’s blessings make you happier and more positive, but it is also the #1 energy you can put out into the Universe to attract even MORE good into your life.  It just makes sense that whatever we focus our attention on expands.  Therefore, if you feel grateful for what you already have in your life, the good stuff will expand and grow.  That’s why I take a few moments to list “Ten Things I’m Grateful for Today” in a journal every morning.

Notice Your Perfect Moments

But Jean offered one new daily practice that I am personally going to add to my “gratitude” repertoire: We need to appreciate the simple pleasures in life because they are our life’s greatest treasures.  Jean suggested incorporating this into your daily life with a practice she calls noticing “Perfect Moments.”  Just STOP what you are doing periodically throughout your day to be fully present to some wonderful little delight that you notice going on nearby. You enjoy just being “in the moment” and say to yourself, “Wow! This is so AMAZING!”

We all do this naturally from time to time. A dazzling sunset catches your eye from the kitchen window as you are making dinner.  Or your child spontaneously says, “I love you” and your heart just melts. Or your pet makes some silly move during playtime that makes you laugh out loud.

Some mornings when I’m sitting on the couch, reading the paper and enjoying my coffee, I happen to glance out the sliding glass door and see a hummingbird sipping nectar from our feeder. I notice the sun glinting on its iridescent green chest as it darts about, and I am just in awe of how perfectly gorgeous it is.   That is a “Perfect Moment.”  There are lots of these little “Perfect Moments” in each and every day, but how often do we pause to drink them in?

My First Action Step

So here’s my first step to making 2014 my best year yet: I am going to amp up the “Play and Leisure” segment of my Wellness Wheel by taking Jean’s advice:  I will schedule more “white space” onto my daily appointment calendar to take more short walks or just take a break from my desk by stepping outside. And I will make the effort to look around me and whenever I want to exclaim, “This is so AMAZING!”  I will jot that memory down in a little notebook and add all those daily wonders to my “Ten Things I’m Grateful for Today” gratitude journal under the special heading: “Perfect Moments from Today.”

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words….

If  you love photography or are a “picture” person more than a “word” person, here’s another delightful option for you to record your “Perfect Moments”: The 365 Grateful Project that Hailey Bartholomew started in 2008 to lift herself out of depression.  Each day for a year, she took a photo of one perfect moment and posted it online.  It soon went viral through social  media and now it’s a movement!  Check out http://www.365Grateful.com to watch her 3-minute video and consider joining the fun of this great project.

I highly recommend Jean Steel’s F*R*E*E* monthly newsletter which you can sign up for at www.happypeoplewin.com.  It will put a smile on your face while giving you some helpful tips for creating a happier, healthier life.
